Seagate FreeAgent 500GB Data Recovery Case Study

A client from the home counties telephoned our labs for advice and guidance on data loss from a Seagate FreeAgent 500GB hard drive. This damaged disk was shipped for data recovery via the uniquely offered free collection service provided.

The client said the data which resided on the external device was accidently deleted after a copy was thought to have been saved elsewhere, which proven to be not the case. The client switched off the drive immediately and contacted our reputable firm for advice and solutions.

Diagnosis of Seagate FreeAgent Desktop 500GB USB Hard drive:

The logical parameters of the drive had become corrupted (namely the MFT which is a master file table). The engineers diagnosed that the drive needed a rebuild the the table, then we could find the data and give it the correct name/title instead of it being lost / orphaned.
